Preschoolers learn about hibernation and Groundhog Day.

In a round-table Social Studies experimental exercise, 3rd grade students took on the roles of countries around the world and used a ball of yarn to create a trade web connecting all the countries to one another.

During our February meeting, Culture Club students learned fun facts about Cuba, made maracas, and danced to salsa music.

On Wednesday, February 5th, students in grade 8 attended the FutureSmart Challenge event, in Boston, hosted by The MassMutual Foundation and the Boston Celtics. MassMutual’s FutureSmart Challenge is a financial education program that offers middle school students the opportunity to learn about making smart financial choices which can have a profound impact on their future financial success. The interactive event was led by actor and author Hill Harper and was co-hosted with the Boston Celtics. Event topics included:

  • The power of savings
  • The value of staying in school
  • How education and career choices can impact what students earn

Thank you to all members of the Student Council, Mr. O’Connor, Ms. Yoder, and the many staff members for a fabulously glamorous semi-formal dance. We had a blast!

We are in the final stretch of a great basketball Season. Thank you to everyone who has helped with ticket sales, concessions, and more. Your help is greatly appreciated and is a major part of our continued growth in athletics.

Important Updates

HEALTH NOTICE: Please see the attached notice from Mrs. Varney in the Health Office regarding illnesses and school attendance. We appreciate your help in keeping all students safe and healthy this school year.

ICE SKATING PERMISSION SLIP & WAIVER NEEDED (Gr. 7-12): Please send in the waiver form and permission slip for Tuesday’s trip ASAP. We are looking forward to our ice skating trip.

ANTONIO’S RESTAURANT FUNDRAISER: Join us on Tuesday, February 11th for our Antonio’s Restaurant fundraiser to benefit the Home and School Association, 11:30 am to 11:00 pm. See flyer for more information.

HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION: The Home and School Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2/12 @ 6:00 pm. Join us to learn about the many ways to help the school. Hope to see you there!

BASKETBALL NOTICE—HELP NEEDED!: Please contact Mr. McAnulty ( rmcanulty@stmaryshigh.org ) ASAP if you are able to help at any of our remaining games. Help is needed with concessions, ticket sales and possibly scoreboard/shot clock. Thank you.

DIOCESAN GRANT & AID: The Diocesan Grant and Aid Process is now open. To apply, please log in to your FACTS account and select “Start Application.” Gather your materials and follow the prompts.

PARENT PLUS PORTALS: Gradebooks are now live. If you did not receive the link to log in, please contact the main office (508-753-1170 or jhill@stmaryshigh.org ). We will be sharing a link with students in grades 9-12 in the coming weeks.

TIPS FROM CHICK-FIL-A: 1) Share the order list with your child. Give them a print out so they know what to expect. 2) Remember to add your child’s Name and Grade in the notes section before checkout. 3) Be sure to order by midnight on Fridays.
