STREAM FOCUS: Religion and Ethnicity

From Mrs. Coulouras: At our December meeting, we focused on learning about the holiday celebrations around the world. We explored the following holidays: Kwanzaa (America), St. Lucia’s Day (Sweden), Las Posadas (Mexico), Diwali (India), Hanukkah (Israel), St. Nicholas Day (Germany), Three Kings Day (Spain), Chinese New Year, Christmas (USA). Culture Club members got into the holiday spirit with a creation of some festive decorations, among them the nativity scene, three Wise Men, international Christmas tree, jingle bells, and ornaments. Our next meeting is on January 15. At that time, we will be “traveling” to the Middle East.

From Senora Harris and Senora Oliveras: We had a wonderful celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, 12/12. We learned even more about Juan Diego from Father Sebastian, who presented a great homily and helped us through the Mass in Spanish. Our fellowship over food from many nations was enjoyable and a great blessing! Thank you the students, staff, and volunteers for making the learning festive and fun!
